New Or Used Which Golf Cart Should You Purchase

September 30th, 2009 at 10:43pm Under General

The golf cart has been around for decades and yet it is still much the same as when it was first developed. If you need to travel around a golf course the practicality of the simple golf cart becomes obvious. Usually a four wheeled vehicle with either a gas engine or an electric motor they are simple and efficient vehicles.

A golf cart get little wear and tear and the worst accident damage is likely to be a small low speed dent at worst. Golf carts can last for many years and with a little servicing they might last longer than you do yourself so a used golf cart can be a very good buy over the long term.

It doesn’t cost a lot to run a golf cart and both the gas powered and electric ones are very economic. A lot of people wouldn’t even know what sort of engine their cart used but some people only like one type.

When you are buying a used golf cart you should check that it has been serviced correctly. Regular servicing is obviously important but there isn’t a lot of wear on either electric or gas carts so it is not too expensive. The electric golf carts have far fewer moving parts and servicing often involves little more than a quick check to ensure the electrical connections are in order. With both types the wheels and brakes need to be checked but they rarely need much attention.

You can stand out from the crowd with a customized paint job and seat trim on your golf cart. Custom designs come in all types and you may see something that will amuse you driving around your local course. We all like to consider ourselves a little special and there is no reason that should not apply to your golf cart.

You will often see the humble golf cart at various other types of venue. If you have any sort of large facility a golf cart makes a great way of getting people around in comfort.

Not many people give much thought to the humble golf cart but they do a terrific job for a relatively small cost. There are few other vehicles that make such a good used buy and they can be used for a lot of other purposes. If you do some searching online you can find websites listing golf carts being offered for sale.

Our Thirsty World

September 19th, 2009 at 06:34pm Under General

You are thirsty. You find a cup and walk over to the kitchen faucet. When you turn the spigot, out comes clean, fresh, satisfying water. You probably don’t stop to think how lucky you are, and how millions of people around the world cannot perform the simple thing you just did.

There is currently a water crisis in our world and people are dying. Why do we have this crisis when most of the world is covered with water? Because, amazingly, only about 3% of the world’s water is drinkable. Most of this undrinkable water is from the oceans — salt water that is not safe to drink.

Thanks to our industrial waste, and large companies refusing to stop dumping waste into normally safe sources of drinking water, a majority of our drinkable water has been polluted or contaminated.

Most of us in the United States don’t even notice that all of this is going on in our world because we are blessed with abundant clean drinking water. We go to an appointment at an office and bottled water is available for us to drink. Usually, when we patronize a restaurant, we are served a glass of water as soon as we arrive. We are even able to get bottled water from many vending machines.

Water is necessary for humans to live healthily and because of this water crisis, millions are ill or dying; especially people in developing countries where they are even fighting over water. In this crisis, the highest death rates are suffered by babies and the very old. The number that shocks me most is 4,900 — every day that is how many babies die because of lack of clean drinking water.

It is gradually becoming clear that there is an immediate need for new water treatment plants or new ways to treat sewage water. Practically speaking, these are the new water machines that we really need.

For our world today, this is assuredly a very tall order. Modern science has created treatment plants to take the salt out of saltwater, as well as a new generation of machines that can make water out of the air.

With the crisis becoming worse, there are many companies, some of them new, working on brand-new technology. The crisis is becoming worse because our underwater sources in some areas are becoming polluted which makes this water crisis one that could affect the United States as well as other developed countries.

Approximately 500 gallons of drinkable water can be produced, right out of the air, by a water machine now on the market. Such water machines are not portable, but progress is being made in this new technology.

Water machines that are small and portable are probably the wave of the future, and they will be located in every home, restaurant, office, and business. But at least this crisis is finally being recognized. We must only hope that this realization has not come too late.

SodaStream Markets Low-Calorie Alternatives

September 12th, 2009 at 09:16pm Under General

If you are a savvy consumer, you know there are more beverage choices than ever. Before you buy that next high-calorie soda pop, you might want to stop and consider a healthier alternative.

SodaStream was introduced in 1903. Giles Gilby invented a carbonation system; it made fizzy water from standard water, and was originally intended for the upper classes. In the 1920s, a variety of flavours were introduced. These choices included sarsaparilla and cherry ciderette. It enjoyed vast success in the 1970s and 80s, becoming a big hit in countries such as the Germany, Australia, and the UK.

SodaStream underwent numerous changes in ownership, at one point even being part of the Cadbury Schweppes empire. 1998 was the year the company changed hands for the final time when purchased by Soda Club, which at that time was the biggest supplier of SodaStream to Israel. Soda Club made a bid to change the brand from SodaStream to Soda-Club, but the name of the brand remained SodaStream.

Recently Soda Club sought to rename the SodaStream brand. Focusing on the health and diet issues that are so prevalent in this day and age, SodaStream was relaunched with a new machine and many new flavours, concentrating on offering a healthy alternative to fizzy, sugar-rich drinks such as Coca Cola and Pepsi.

The SodaStream product is essentially a home carbonation kit; it allows you to change water into sparkling water, as well as allowing you to add low-calorie flavours such as cola and orange. A large assortment of calorie-free flavours to flavour sparkling water to great taste is sold at allfreightfree.com.

The SodaStream machine process forces co2 into a water-filled bottle suitable for pressurising. It is the co2 that turns the water into carbonated (sparkling) water. This process of dissolving co2 is what we call carbonation. The carbonated water can then be drunk on its own as sparkling water, or mixed with flavours to create tasty, healthy treats. Once the co2 canisters have been used up they can be sent back to Soda-Club who recycle the canisters by refilling them with co2 then sending them back out.

Regarding actual health and diet benefits gained from drinking SodaStream, the company claims that all their flavours are completely sugar-free and contain a maximum of 2 calories per 100ml; this is, assuredly, good news for every parent concerned about a child’s diet.

The SodaStream machine adds only co2 to the water, meaning it does not have the added sugar that some bottled sparkling water contains, so there is essentially no difference between it and normal water.

SodaStream have made much of their environmental and health credentials, even going so far as to say that every one litre bottle of SodaStream made saves three aluminum cans. This, in turn, means that over 3 years, a family of four could slash their soft-drink-related packaging usage by over 90%. This is an attractive claim, one that in this environmentally conscious age will stand them in good stead. Obviously, Sodastream has developed into a viable alternative to the big players in the soft drink world.

Lotto: Play to Win

September 2nd, 2009 at 08:44pm Under General

Many people, if not most, would not consider gambling an acceptable subject in financial planning. But with millions of people involved in gaming of all sorts, and billions of pounds, dollars, and euros at stake, why not? Some people gamble strictly for amusement; but what if you want to gamble to actually produce income?

Lotto is one of the most widespread forms of gaming. Although no one has yet perfected the technique or the formula to second guess the winning combination, many manage to make decent earnings by guessing the probable winning combinations. Some rely on mathematics, some rely on intuition. The best chance you have of cracking the winning combination depends on how you use the most vital ingredient required for every day living – commonsense.

Rather than focusing on expensive strategies that use random combinations you will want to focus on possible winning combinations. You can accomplish this just by categorizing winning combinations. If you determine, based on historical data, that the future jackpot will have more numbers from 1 to 9, you should have combination of numbers that will include at least four numbers from 1 to 9. This way you will not have to buy more number of tickets to increase your odds of hitting the big prize. By not buying too many tickets you not only save money but also have enough to play another day — the one that might prove to be your lucky day.

Playing in syndicate is also a good idea but then you have to share your prize money with all the members of the syndicate and this means you still keep your job and report back to office on the following Monday. Categorizing numbers doesn’t require a lot of brains. What you essentially do is target a group of numbers and try out numerous combinations. For example: if you deduce that 1 to 9 may be the combination that you need to focus on, then your combination might be 1,4,6,9,26,30 or 1,2,5,7,36,39 or 1,3,8,11,29,45. Now with these numbers, note that your focus is on numbers from 1 to 9 and the other numbers are ones which have an outside chance of being drawn. This system may not hit the jackpot but you will surely win decent sums of money to finance your future games, and if lady luck happens to smile on you; you can forget going to work on the following Monday.

The commonsense approach requires that you play alertly. If you are targeting the group from 1 – 9 it would be utterly foolish to draw four numbers in a series like 1,2,3,4 or 6,7,8,9 as the first four numbers, by doing this your chances of hitting the jackpot or any small prize is zero. It means you have already lost the game even before the winning numbers are drawn. This amounts to literally throwing away your funds.

So, how to win lotto? Well, the best strategy is you should zero in on the most probable winning combinations, then use common sense to arrive at the combination of six numbers. If you follow this practice each time you play, your chance of hitting the jackpot goes up dramatically. If you are going to gamble, do so intelligently, and play to win.
