Retractable awnings are simple additions to your home that provide additional shade to your deck area. Today’s manufactures make not only basic but advanced awnings which now come in lots of colors and patterns. Even better, motorized retractable awnings allow you to control your awning via remote control.

These retractable awnings can be opened and closed at a simple remote control device. Since they are powered with an electrical engine, you do not have to use a hand crank to open the retractable awning every time. Because awnings come in many sizes, even picky homeowners can usually find the exact model to provide shade for your deck or patio area.

As an alternative, manual crank awnings do the same job as a motorized awning, and will save you money in the meantime. How? Since they do not have a motor, they cost less to manufacture, thus they cost less to the consumer. Of course that means extra labor for the homeowner, who then must open and close the awning with a hand cran. But if there is no need to retract the awning on a regular basis, this option may work out well for you.

Motorized retractable awnings are sold at stores like Wal-Mart, Costco and Home Depot. Generally the price is usually good at these stores, your choice of color and pattern are generally limited. A better option if you are looking for something specific is to search out a local dealer, or even deal direct with the manufacturer.

When shopping for a retractable awning, there are a couple of names that are well known for making quality porch awnings. The name that is the most well known is the Sunsetter brand, with Sunbrella being another well known name. All of these manufacturers offer quality awnings at a fair price. Variety is what the manufacturers are looking to offer, as they can offer several options as far as colors and patterns.

There are several reasons to make your deck a cooler place to relax with the ones you love. A Durasol awning may be the ticket to a more enjoyable patio area. At the same time, you can beautify your deck with the pattern or color that best suits your home.
